NOW University welcomes internationally-acclaimed author, educator and consultant, Marcia Zimmerman, CN to the 2010 Nutrition for Optimal Wellness webinar series.

About this webinar:  Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) is a devastating childhood developmental disorder that features language impairment, dysfunctional social interactions, and repetitive behavior patterns. The unprecedented occurrence of autism has fueled concerns that we are experiencing an apparent “epidemic” of ASD.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the average prevalence of diagnosed ASD among children 8 years old, increased 57% between 2002 and 2006 in the 10 states that had been randomly selected. It’s not clear if this increase is due to better diagnosis and identification of ASD at an earlier age, and/or a greater public awareness. However, there have been other reasons proposed that explain how this condition is increasing at such a rapid rate. One of these is repeated exposure to some dietary ingredients. Another is exposure to environmental contamination – possibly while the child is in utero.

The July webinar focused on the metabolic and environmental considerations as they relate to autism.  Please join us for the September webinar as we continue our disucssion on biomarker testing, detoxification and nutrition solutions.  If you missed the July webinar, be sure to listen to the replay.
